THERANOS RETRO DESIGN VIDEO by @deviantmotion "Recently I have been producing signs for companies that have gone bust. For my latest I have made Theranos. If you don't know anything about this company Google it coz its a mental story. But to put it simply (wiki...) Theranos was an American company which was touted as a breakthrough health technology company, with claims of having devised blood tests that required only very small amounts of blood and could be performed very rapidly using small automated devices the company had developed. When in fact it was all a massive load of BS. The women that set up the company Elizabeth Holmes was a complete and utter lier, with possible personality disorder. Read the book Bad Blood which is all about Theranos, its such a good bookAnd any way in the same way the company's pictured did, these signs fall and break. The abundance of blood that appears is a play on the fact that a person needed to give far more blood than theranos claimed. Several viles rather than a drop.I use Newton3 by @motionboutique to produce the gravity effect. For this video I used the After Effects plugin Pastiche (also by @motionboutique ) to produce the logo, which sits behind the logo you can see.Once the logo is animated using Newton3 you can add several effects to make the animation appear like liquid. Back when Adobe Animate was called Macromedia Flash.But my style, for better and for worse, had always been crude. Neatness was never my strong point, in art or in life… good thing I’m engaged to a professional organizer :)Even as I made a career for myself in production I had doubts that I could be a clean enough animator for my animation work to stand on its own.But when I had the opportunity to work with @zapier to animate a new series of web ads, I rose to the occasion and impressed even myself. I feel like I earned my stripes as a motion designer in this collaboration!
