Really nice, very quick to set-up with great results

  • Ben

    You guys are amazing.

  • Joe

Can you pick the spot the fold starts or ends? Can I have it unfold from the center?

    • No. Only from the edges.

      • Joe

Thanks! Great script. I’d love to see a short tutorial on using the slider controls. I’ll keep playing around with it though.

    • Michal Vydrnak

For unfold from the center you must divide your composition in the middle into two compositions with half-width. The one you use paravent from left to right and the other from right to left. Then, just connect compositions. Here are the pictures for a better idea.

Didn’t even try to build a studio in AE. So thanks any way homie

  • Gary Forth

Sorry for stupid question, but how you make this beautifull studio on BG? )

    • Val may post that studio setup scene in a near futur 🙂

      • …and you need to use the Raytracing engine of AE to do that…

      • Christian

Please post this awesome studio setup.

      • Lorna

do these work for mac and if so how do you install them? I’ve tried copying them to the scriptUI Panels folder and it doesn’t do anything, they dont show up in after effects. Ive also tried going into LibraryApplication SupportAdobeCommonsPlug-ins and nothing, help pleaaase I cant find a tutorial that works, anywhere!

  • Darion

Ok – so I got this awesomess working – but does anyone know how the rotate the whole fan together. Tried parenting it to a null breaks the script.

    • Val

I don’t get what you are trying to do… 🙂 you want to rotate every segment like a fan?

      • Darion

I want to rotate the whole item as a single object. So it is unfolding using the main controls. And the whole thing is spinning as a single piece of paper as well. Hope that is clearer. Normally I would attach all objects to a null and rotate that. But that breaks the script.
        😉

        • Val

Best practice is to just precomp it (and activate “collapse transformation”)

Or you can bake the animation created by the expressions.
          Hope it helps.
          🙂

Thanks a lot for the great script, a real timesaver. I just wanted to say that in CS5.5 AE crashes when i close the Paravent window. Happens on two different computers running mac. It doesn’t crash when right click the Paravent window and close it using the context menu.

  • Szarik

I have a problem. When I try to open the script I get the message:
Unable to execute script at line 131
    Uncaught exception image
Can you help me? Thank you

    • Val

what version of AE do you use?

      • Szarik

        AE CS 5

        • Val

Looks like there’s an issue with the header image. Maybe try to re-download the script. Check that the folder (Paravent_Resources) is next to your script file.

  • Eagles

Great script thank you. However, whatever setting I use the folded solid aways moves off screen, how do I get it to stay where it is originally? Many thanks E

  • Jason Newmark

I keep getting the following error – an error occurred when creating the animation

  • the download link is not working!

  • rrss

please help me , I use the folded solid aways moves off screen, how do I get it to stay where it is originally? thanks a lot

    • Not sure of what you’re talking about…
Best use of paravent is to precomp the paravent with collapse transformations.

  • PIA

Great. Thanks! there’s a way to make them triangles?

    • Val

      nop!

    great

  • Andrew Bird

    It’s great!
In addition a random direction scrunch would be SUPER useful for those jobs where we can’t afford the time to stop motion trendy paper scrunches.

  • jenn

    Is it not free anymore?

    • Val

It’s “Name Your Own Price”: you pay what ever you want, even nothing.
